What is the Singer 7469Q Sewing Machine?

The Singer Confidence 7469Q sewing machine is perfect for beginners. It has a variety of stitches and an automatic needle threader. Plus, it is a computerized sewing cum quilting machine that makes it easy to make all kinds of designs on your fabrics.

The other thing I really love about this product is the four quilting feet and an extension table which allows you to do even more projects. I can easily switch from using my right to my left hand when I need to, which means this product caters to all people with limitations.

You can’t go wrong with this sewing machine with 98 built-in stitches, a programmable drop feed, up/down needle movement, and electronic needle control. There’s also an accessory storage compartment to keep everything neat and tidy!

Singer 7469Q Confidence Features

The Singer Confidence 7469Q has many of the features I wanted in a sewing machine.

The machine has a range of automatic functions, including an automatic needle threader, drop and sew bobbin system, drop feed, and programmable up/down movement. These functions take the guesswork out of the equation and make it easier to focus on sewing.

The built-in cutter makes it easy to cut threads with just one press of a button – no need for scissors or other tools.

The adjustable stitch length and width, 98 inbuilt stitch patterns, stitch locking, an electronic twin needle control, and a six-segment feeding system were some of the other highlights for me. My favorite feature is the speed controller, which lets you choose from four different speeds when using straight stitching.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of the features I like:

Automated needle threader
Drop and sew bobbin function
Automatic bobbin winder
Thirteen in-built needle positions
Drop feed dog feature
Six-segment feed dog function
Optimal power control
Programmable needle up/down position
Self-lubricating feature
Extension table
Three bonus presser feet
Extra-high presser foot lifter
Two superior LED lights
Automated tension control
Automated reverse function
Stitch lock function

That’s it for the technical part of this review. Next I’m going to talk about my experience with this sewing machine.

What I Like

1

Built-In Stitches

The Singer 7469Q comes with 98 built-in stitches. This sewing machine is a middle of the line machine that is moderately expensive but offers many features that budget and lower grade machines don’t offer.

2

Variety of Stitches

This sewing machine also has 15 stitches, including all the basic, and more specialized stitches like a stretch or narrow hemming stitch. With such a variety of stitches available, there are a few projects that this machine can’t tackle.

What I Dislike

1

Blades can be slippery

The slick chrome plated blades are highly slippery and can slip easily when handled carelessly.

2

No case cover/sheath

The biggest downside of this device is that it doesn’t come with a case cover to store the nipper when not in use.

The blades don’t come with a sheath cover or blade protector either. This can lead to accidents if handled without due caution.

3

Takes Time to adapt

Working with Gingher 4.5-Inch Knife Edge may not be a breezy task for newbies. It does take time to get yourself adapted to the mechanisms involved in the device.

It can be a real battle for the first time. But don’t lose hope.

4

Loose screws

The blade screws get loosened often and you need to keep a screwdriver handy while working with the nipper.

5

Blades not aligned properly

I find the blades are not aligned properly. On close inspection, you can find alignment issues that can pose a challenge when working on snipping minute threads.

6

No locking mechanism

The nipper doesn’t have an inbuilt locking system to keep the device secured when not in use.

7

Geographical Restrictions

The Singer 7469Q bought in the US can be compatible only with US and Canadian voltage.

There will be voltage incompatibilities in other regions and you will also run the risk of losing the warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

How good is the Singer Confidence sewing machine?

The Singer Confidence sewing machine is a great starter machine for anyone interested in sewing. It’s easy to use, has a wide variety of stitches, and the price is reasonable. It is worth considering if you’re looking for a basic sewing machine with all the basics.

The Singer Confidence 7469Q is also one of the few inexpensive machines on the market that will sew and quilt at the same time. Another bonus is that it includes an accessory pack which includes: a mountable portable cabinet, quilter’s extension table, open-toe, and even feed feet, scissors, seam ripper, zigzag foot, buttonhole foot, and bobbins, as well as a darning and embroidery foot.

By far, the machine is just awesome at what it does and comes at a very friendly price point.

Is Singer confidence a low shank machine?

Yes, the Singer Confidence 7469Q is a low-shank machine. Low-shank machines require that you use a zipper foot or other specialty foot. You will not be able to use any of your regular sewing feet with this machine. Some shanks in my regular sewing kit are low enough to work with this machine, but some don’t reach all the way up to the needle.

If you are using a presser foot for the first time, start by testing the space between the needle and the foot on scrap fabric before trying it on your project. The Confidence 7469Q also comes with an instruction manual and DVD. It has helpful tutorials about how to thread and operate this machine as well as advice about troubleshooting issues such as when there are skipping stitches.

How can I tell if my sewing machine is low or high shank?

Lower the presser foot completely and measure the distance between the presser foot thumb screw and the base. For distances between 0.75” or 0.5” or below, the machine is considered low-shank. For distances above 1.0” or over 1.25”, the machine is considered high-shank.

One of the first things to look for when purchasing a sewing machine is if it is a low or high shank. Low-shank machines are typically found in older machines, and high-shank machines are typically found in newer ones. If your machine does not have a low or high shank indicator on the side, you will need to determine which type of machine it is by looking at your needle plate.

That’s a Wrap

The Singer Confidence 7469Q is an excellent sewing machine for beginners and seasoned sewers. It has a plethora of features that make it easy to use and suitable for all skill levels. The price is also very reasonable considering the quality of the machine.

Looking at all the included accessories, it’s easy to see why this machine has earned a favorite spot with us. The 25-year limited warranty is a bold expression of confidence by the manufacturer, and it can be seen in every aspect of the product. If you’re in the market for a new sewing machine that won’t break the bank while still providing all of your needs, look no further than this model from Singer.
